Do you care about reducing waste in landfills? Do you want to help children in need? If your answers to both are yes, then please consider interning at Crayon Collection. Crayon Collection is a charity that collects gently used crayons and distributes them to Title 1 schools. By collecting crayons, we reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills since crayons do not decompose. Duties include:
1. Calling restaurants to inform them about our Crayon Recycling program and asking them to participate.
2. Pairing each restaurant with a local Title 1 school and coordinating the pick up of the crayons.
3. Keeping track and documenting each restaurant/school pairing in Excel.

The Sustainability Action Research Program is looking for a Communications Director to manage our online platforms and help extend the program’s reach on campus. This program is housed under the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability at UCLA, and offers students the opportunity to spearhead their own action research.
The role of the Communications Director is to effectively communicate the progress and happenings of the Sustainability Talks and Sustainability Action Research program, both within and beyond the UCLA community. Not only is this necessary edification for the public, but it also garners support for the program, as we are continually seeking campus collaboration and funding. The Communications Director will be SAR’s mouthpiece to the general public, and will work closely with the SAR program directors to expand our reach. This will take the form of external and public relations including but not limited to interaction with UCLA news sources like the Daily Bruin, regional new sources, and other sustainability-minded groups on campus. The Communications Director position is a 3-unit class during Winter and Spring Quarters, and time should be invested accordingly. Applicants who are able to begin right away will be prioritized.
If you are interested, please apply here!
